Understanding the Husky & Malamute coat
Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes carry the thickest undercoat of any breed we groom. When the coat blows, hair lifts out in sheets and it takes sustained high-velocity drying to clear it — a brush alone barely touches it. Malamutes additionally hold a heavy guard coat that traps moisture if it is not dried right through to the skin.
Two layers — a coarse topcoat over a dense undercoat that blows out twice a year. These coats are never clipped short; they are washed, blown out and de-shedded. That puts Huskies and Malamutes on our Signature Bath & Style package.

Husky & Malamute grooming questions
How long does a Husky or Malamute groom take?
Typically 65–80 minutes for a Husky and 70–110 minutes for a Malamute, depending on size and coat. Most of that time is drying and de-shedding — the undercoat has to be blown out fully rather than rushed, otherwise packed hair stays against the skin and causes irritation.
Can shedding be reduced without clipping?
Yes, and far more effectively. A full professional blow-out removes loose undercoat at the root, which cuts household shedding dramatically for weeks. Clipping only shortens the hair that is already shedding.
Do you groom Malamutes at home?
Yes. Our van parks outside your home across Paisley, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow and selected nearby areas, so there is no car journey and no salon waiting room. The XL walk-in van has a low-entry step and a full-size table, so there is no lifting a heavy dog in or out of a car.
